Need Help…Want To Get Muscular

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

I’d like to build muscle definition on my currently flabby body. I’m not as flabby as before thanks to Nutrisystem but though I’ve lost a considerable amount of weight I still have flab here and there. So what’s the best way to get rid of fat and build muscle?

I’m doing cardio (via boxing) a few times a week and will probably integrate some sort of strength training. I do a lot of pushups in my boxing class but that’s probably not enough. Do you have any advice for me?

I don’t need to look this muscular. In fact, I think the 3rd guy is photoshopped. Can’t be that big, can he?

Our Coach

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I told you guys that I’m taking a boxing/muay thai class. Yep, I try to go three times a week. Anyway, here’s one of our coaches. His name is Romie (in the black shorts) and he’s pretty bad ass. He knocked out this dude in 2 minutes.

I’m not hard core like Romie. I’m not going to be fighting opponents (at least not his caliber opponents). I’m just looking to get more fit and get more muscle definition after losing weight on Nutrisystem. The diet was tough and I don’t want to gain my weight back again after all that hard work. The boxing/muay thai classes are awesome because it’s a 90 minute class and they work you almost every minute of it. You sweat a lot, burn a lot of calories, and hopefully after a few months look like you’re in tip, top shape.

That’s Me In 2008

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

ryanreynolds.jpgI don’t normally post pictures of half naked guys but this is going to be me in 2008 (or 2009). Lofty goal, I know. Actually, now that I’m doing a double take I wonder if I can even get that ripped. After all, I am Asian and a fat one at that. I wonder if I have to down some creatine (which I’ll never do). Or maybe I have to go BALCO.  Nutrisystem never mentioned anything about how I can get muscle definition. =)

25 lbs Makes a Huge Difference

Friday, April 20th, 2007

I’m browsing around “My Pictures” section of my computer when I run into some old pictures from back in 2005. My wife and I were waiting for our house to get built and we frequently took pictures around the house. Here I am posing inside what would become our fireplace.hag-aug-05.jpg

Now, I’m not super skinny in that picture but I’m a ton load skinnier (25 lbs lighter to be exact) compared to today. Wow!!! That’s about all the motivation I need. Screw waiting for my Nutrisystem diet. I’m going on my pre-Nutrisystem diet plan ASAP. It starts tomorrow and will continue until my Nutrisystem food arrives…and when it arrives I’ll start that weight loss plan and continue on until I get back to good shape.

hag-april-2007.jpgI didn’t realize how much of a difference 25 lbs makes. Oh me, oh my!! Again, I’m not saying I’m super thin in that picture…but dude, wait until I post a current close-up pic of myself. I blew up! If you want to see a preview, check out the picture on the left. Notice the big fat belly…I mean you literally see the rolls. So depressing, yet so motivating. I better start running every day and eating much, much healthier.

I just want to know how I gained 25 lbs in less than 2 years. That’s the bigger question (no pun intended)…

Going To The Gym

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Significant day today, ladies and gentlemen. I’m heading to the gym to workout…not to play basketball but to actually workout. I plan on doing some cardio on the treadmill and maybe even the bicycle. And I’m going to lift weights to build some muscle tone…hopefully! I know I’ll never look like Brad Pitt (think Fight Club) but I know I can look a little less stumpy than I am today.

Wish me luck…exercising is here today, dieting will come tomorrow. Hmm, do I have that mixed up?

I Think I’m Going With Nutrisystem

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Okay, I know I said I was going to review each of the diets that I researched (and I will, eventually)…but I feel time is of the essence and after thoroughly investigating the different types of diet plans, I decided to go with Nutrisystem. I’m 95% sure that I am going to do the Nutrisystem diet. It’s a 28 day weight loss plan and they’re offering one week of free food so technically I’m getting 5 weeks worth of food. I’m going to do a little more research and read up about the weight loss program to make sure that this is what I want to do. So far, it seems like everyone has positive things to say about it. I’ll make my decision within the next 24 hours. Sorry for cutting the diet reviews short…I promise to review the other diets that I looked into and will let you know the pros and cons as well as why I didn’t choose that diet plan.

For my stomach’s sake, I hope that I’m making the right choice with the Nutrisystem diet.

Out of Shape

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

I exercised for the first time in quite a while this weekend. Played basketball back-to-back days. 3 games on Friday night and 2 games on Saturday night. Now, these aren’t full blown NBA type of games. Just normal pick up games that last no more than 20 minutes. So why I ask do I feel like I’ve just played an entire season’s worth of games?

My legs are sore and my back in pain. I feel like I’m that close to having a pulled groin and I hear a clicking noise in my knee. Overall, I’m exhausted and don’t really feel like doing anything. Hmm, I guess that’s what happens when you don’t exercise EVER and then overexert yourself two days in a row.

The only good thing to come out of this is that I’m committed to getting in better shape. Lose weight, increase stamina, and look better. Those are my goals. Now I just have to decide on a diet and exercise plan and I’m golden!
