The Fish Market

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

fish-market-dinner.jpgSounds like a supermarket for fish but it’s actually a restaurant down here where I live. I ate the shrimp and scallops skewer. I opted for veggies instead of french fries (waiting for mad props from you guys) and finished off the sides w/ some fishwife rice. Never heard of fishwife rice but it was pretty good. Overall, seemed like a healthy dinner although I must admit that I dipped the shrimp in the butter sauce one time too many. Humph, this diet thing will be tough. But I’m going to do it.

Starting To Eat Healthy

Friday, April 20th, 2007

In light of my staggering discovery of how incredibly fat I’ve gotten, I’ve decided to start eating healthy even before my Nutrisystem meals arrive. They should come sometime next week but instead of living it up and gaining an additional 5 pounds, I figure I should get a head start on things. For lunch, I had a nice can of Chicken Noodles accompanied by some wheat crackers. I’m not full by any means but since I’m dieting I should probably never feel full, right?

Starbucks Is a No-No

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

You can cross Starbucks off the list of places I can frequent during my diet. A few minutes ago I went to the local Starbucks just to get myself a pick-me up. I figured, hey, why not get a frappuccino…how bad could it possibly be for you, right?

starbuckscoffee1.jpgWell, there just happened to be a handy dandy nutritional menu next to the counter (after I ordered, of course) and here are the specs:

290 calories
35 calories from Fat
0% vitamin C

It’s not horrible, I guess. But it’s a lot worse than I thought. Hmm, now that I think about it I wonder if this is PER SERVING. There are probably like 2-3 servings for the size I ordered. Great!! Well, good thing I only drank half of it.

Chinese Food @ Panda

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

panda-express.jpgI was out shopping with my wife earlier this week and we stopped by Panda Express to eat some Chinese food. This was before I ordered Nutrisystem and in between me deciding whether or not to really diet. Y’all know that I’m always on the fence deciding when to start my diet. Anyway, you’ll be proud to know that I split this meal with my wife. So while it wasn’t all good that I ate the Chinese food, at least it was shared between two people. Or am I just trying to make my self feel better?

pretzel.jpgNo matter, my weight loss begins next week. My Nutrisystem food order is shipping from the East Coast and they said it should take 5-10 business days. Why it takes that long is anyone’s guess?! I guess that means I can still go get dessert and it stuff like this almond flavored pretzel from Auntie Anne’s. Very tasty, I must say…I sure will miss these types of foods.  I hope Nutrisystem has something similar in taste.  Well, I’m looking at the bright side.  At least, I’ll be thinner (I hope) and healthier (go health) and better looking (definitely hoping for this one).

This Is How You Lose Weight

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

westernburger.jpgDon’t I wish that this meal is part of a cool, trendy diet plan that works. Nope! This is my last hoorah before I begin my diet. I seem to be delaying my weight loss plan…but yeah check me and my Carl’s Jr.. lunch. I should be eating a BBQ Chicken sandwich (like my wife in the French Fries pic). I couldn’t resist the Western Bacon Cheesburger though. We go way back and I just couldn’t say no to him.

fries.jpgDon’t freak out about the fries. I didn’t even them all. It was split amongst three people thought I was the only male at the table so, of course, I ate most of it. I’m beginning to wonder if I can finish this diet out. Nutrisystem, I hope you work.

Oh, I did go to the gym today…that’s good news!

In ‘N Out…What It’s All About

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

So I’m going to start my diet in mid-April and before I do I’m going to enjoy myself and splurge on some yummy, greasy food. It’s probably not the best idea since I’ll have to work that much harder to lose all the weight I want…but I just can’t resist. Check out my extra large In ‘N Out meal from yesterday. I did have a partner in crime so I didn’t eat the whole thing…but I did eat a large portion of it. Umm, umm good.

Whatever diet plan I go with, it better work…or I’m getting to be one fat dude and a very, very, very Happy Asian Guy. Read my first ever blog post to see why being happy is not a good thing.

World’s Best Salad

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

I opened the fridge and took out a small, tiny salad that I bought at the store the other day. My first impression was that I’d be starving afterwards…I mean how can this wimpy salad satisfy by insatiable appetite. But to my amazement, it was probably the best salad I have ever eaten. The official name is Bacon & Spinach Salad w/ Poppy Seed Dressing. Man, I said to myself, I could eat this thing 3 meals a day and be satisfied. I was so stoked. Finally, something healthy that tastes good.

But wait just one second, young gun!! Once I finished what I think is the world’s best salad I flipped the package over to see the nutritional information. Insane! No wonder it was so darn delicious. It was freaking 880 calories and contained 70 grams of fat. What the heck!?! Here I was thinking that I had just discovered my new, innovative salad only diet plan. And with the fruit platter I had, I probably jumped the 1,000 calorie mark. Man, for that many calories I might as well ate a few slices of pizza.

I still can’t believe it. I feel like I got duped…I included the nutritional info so that you guys can see for yourself. Doesn’t seem that high in calories and fat huh? So disappointing…

I Don’t Think I’m Supposed To Eat 1/2 The Bag

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

popcorn.jpg

So I’m strolling down the aisles of Trader Joe’s when I see this cool new “Lite Popcorn”. 50% less fat and significantly lower calories per serving!! Since I’m a popcorn lover (movie popcorn with butter and salt is the best), I was all over this “Lite” version.

I ripped it open once I got home to try it out. Pretty good I must say. Not quite as good as the greasy movie popcorn but still very tasty. Fast forward 20 minutes or so and I noticed that I had eaten more than 1/2 the bag. Hmm, I wonder if this defeats the whole purpose of “Lite”.

At Least I Didn’t Get a Bacon Burger

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

burger.jpgJust as I was saying that my diet was to start today I completely got sidetracked and ate a burger w/ fries for lunch. See why I need to start one of those meal delivery diet programs like Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig. Sometimes I forget that I’m on a diet and other times my will power just sort of goes by the way side. I’m thinking if I had some structure and didn’t have the option to order unhealthy food at a fast food joint, that I’d do much better.

I mean if Dan Marino can do Nutrisystem and Kirstie Alley can do Jenny Craig, I should be able to do it right?

I can’t believe that I ate a burger for lunch after proclaiming that I was going on a diet. Does it count for anything that I only got the 1/3 lb burger (they had the 1/2 lb and one pound option) and that I said no to bacon?
