Costco and Diets Don’t Mix

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

fruit-and-veggie-diet.jpgTook a trip to Costco to load up on some bottled water and food. Normally, I enjoy going to Costco because they super-size everything. Pizza slices are 3 times normal size, they sell beef jerkey by the pound, and their kielbasas are to die for (hmm, you probably will die if you have to many I guess). But now that I’m on my diet, Costco just isn’t the same. I load up on fruits and veggies…boring! I load up on turkey breast and other healthy foods…double boring!

costco-diet.jpgI did sneak in a Rotisserie Chicken in there though. I think I’m going to eat that for dinner tonight. My wife thinks that I’ve done such a great job that this is my reward…a mid-week “cheat” dinner. Typically, I’d eat the whole chicken…hahaha…just kidding. Not the whole chicken but maybe half. Tonight I’ll be lucky if I get a drumstick. Portion control, remember? Oh and the cashews…I think I can eat about 10 pcs per day. That jug of cashews will probably last me until summer 2008.

“Charlie Bite” Dental Device Helps You Lose Weight

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

A new dental device is making big news claiming that it could help people lose weight. Naturally, when I heard about this I was all ears. This device is called the Charlie Bite, named after its inventor Charlie Comstock. He thinks that chewing slower while you eat will lead to quicker, more efficient weight loss. So he came up with a device that forces people to cut their food, take smaller bites, and chew the food more thoroughly.

Hmm…sounds a bit complicated to me but I dug deeper just to see what something like this would cost.

Wowsers!! Prices range from $1500 to $3000. I can buy a Plasma TV for that much money! But I guess if it works for people, then more power to ‘em. Patients say they lose about 1.5 pounds per week. It still sounds like a pretty big investment to me and is way outside my price range…just my opinion. What do you guys think?
