Week 2 Weight Update: 172.6 lbs

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

week-2-weight.jpgThe good news is that I managed to lose almost 3 pounds (2.8 to be exact) this week even though I “cheated” by eating Korean BBQ, celebrating Cinco de Mayo, and substituting several other Nutrisystem meals throughout the week. The not so good news is that I only lost 3 pounds compared to the 8.4 pounds I lost after week one. Also, I lost about 4% body fat…though it’s still kind up there at a lard like 22.4%. Sorry about the blurry image…I think I was excited that my weight continued to trek downwards and I was shaking. =) Either that or just plain bad camera work.

So here’s the summary:

Before Nutrisystem - 183.8 lbs
After 1 week of Nutrisystem - 175.4 lbs
After 2 weeks of Nutrisystem - 172.6 lbs

Nonetheless, I can’t complain and I’m actually quite satisfied. I’m aiming to get below the 170 mark by Mother’s Day this weekend (there…a friendly reminder to all you forgetful sons out there). I have five more days to go until Mother’s Day so I’m hoping I can do it.

Weekly Weight Update: 175.4 lbs

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

nutrisystem-i.jpgI placed my Nutrisystem order on April 17th and I weighed in at a whopping 185.8 lbs. The Nutrisystem foods arrived via UPS six days later and I weighed 183.8 lbs that day…I was starting to eat healthy so I guess a I lost a few pounds.

I finished my first official week on the Nutrisystem diet and I’ve lost an amazing 8.4 lbs! That’s so great! I’m not sure if I can keep up this rapid weight loss (though it’s probably not a good idea anyway to lose so much weight so fast). Anyway, I’m very surprised by the results so far. I hope to lose another 2-3 pounds by the end of week two. I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the meals I’ve been eating while on the Nutrisystem weight loss program. Off to the gym…

Weekly Weight Update: 185.2 lbs

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

weight-scale.jpgI should be getting my Nutrisystem foods sometime soon but since I’m going to start eating healthy before the foods even arrive, I decided to start chronicling my weight. So here’s the first one as I start my pre-diet. Yup, 185.2 pounds. A big yikes-a-rooni is in order.

My goal is to get to 175 lbs by Memorial day and 165 lbs by 4th of July. For those mathematically challenged, that’s 10 pounds in 5 weeks…and 20 lbs in ten weeks.

I’m also going to do cardio for 45 min per day and strength training for 30 min per day. We’ll see how long I last but I plan on continuing until I reach my goal(s).

Weight Loss Contest

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I have this graphic designer friend (or is he a web designer?…I get the two mixed up) who I’ve been trying to get move to my hometown of Irvine for the longest time. His name is Frank. I used to live with him in college and years later we still go to all the USC Trojans football games and hang like the good ol’ times (well, marriage and baby sort of reduced the frequency but you get the gist). Anyway, he’s a stubborn lad and has insisted that he’s staying in Los Angeles. I’ve managed to “recruit” about a dozen friends to move down to the OC but no such luck with Frank. I’ve bribed him with cash, promised him a high paying job, secured low cost housing, and even tempted him with hot chicks. But no such luck…

Alas, he commented on his blog that he would strongly consider moving to Irvine if I ever weigh-in at 160 lbs. Aha! I’ve got him now. While I’m a lofty 25 lbs away from 160, I think I can do it. And now I have extra motivation to do so. Get to 160 lbs (he thinks I can do it…pwa!) and Frank the Tank is coming down to the OC. Oh yeah, it’s on!!!

Weight Update: 190.5 lbs

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Yep, when I weighed in at gym today I was like WHAT!?!?! Are you kidding me? It said 190.5 lbs…I even stepped off and on again. Could keys and a cell phone really put on 5 additional pounds? Luckily, I tested out another weight scale down the hall and it registered my weight at a cool 185.8 lbs. I rechecked the original weight scale and I guess it was not calibrated correctly. Phew, what a relief. Not that 185.8 lbs is anything to gloat about but breaching the 190lb mark is just insane.

One thing it did was motivate my workout though. I played basketball, lifted weights, and did a light jog on the treadmill.

Total gym time was 90 minutes. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new me…so long Happy Asian Guy. Hello, Slim & Ripped…I still have to come up with a nickname when/if I reach my goal. Any suggestions?

Warning: 185.8 lbs Today!!

Monday, April 9th, 2007

I decide to weigh myself - the first time I’ve weighed myself in a few days - and I’m now a staggering 185.8 lbs. I think I’ve only been heavier one other time before in my life when I was in the 190’s. Now, this may not seem like a whole lot of weight but for those who don’t know me I only stand 5 foot 8 inches tall (remember, I am Asian and we tend to be on the shorter side). So I’m not a super tall guy whose weight should be in the 200 lb range. Unfortunately, I should definitely be somewhere between 160-165 lbs…I think.

My wife is pretty skinny so this is what I look like when I stand next to her…I’m exaggerating but you get the point.

Time to stop procrastinating and pick a diet already. Off to buy some fruit and veggies tomorrow. Maybe start a pre-diet DIET. Gotta lose 20 lbs or so by 4th of July weekend. Gotta do it, I say…gotta do it! If I don’t start to lose weight now, I never will. Only a few months of agony right? Oh, why is dieting so tough?

Let me know if dieting is as tough for you as it is for me. Or maybe I’m just a wimp and complain too much. Maybe I just need to suck it up and get with the program. If only food didn’t taste so good.
