Google Comes To Town

Here’s a factoid for you. I could have worked for Google pre-IPO. Would’ve been a mega-millionaire. Turned it down for a number of reasons - location (would have to move), loyalty (worked for rival), timing (I was getting married in a week) and other (I think and hope there were more reasons). It still sort of peeves me a bit though and is the source of my entrepreneurial passion. Whenever I hit a dry spell all I need to do is look at my framed Google bookcover that I have and I get back right on the money train. And everytime I read about Google or see Google, I just think what could’ve been and I work that much harder to bring in the bacon.
Not that I have anything to complain about (well maybe my weight). I work from home and love what I do…I have a beautiful, beautiful wife and a handsome new baby. I’m fortunate enough to have nice things and be surrounded by great friends and family. And by all accounts, I’m generally in good health (though I could probably improve this area).
But it still fuels the fire whenever Google comes up…and boy did I have the ultimate Google sighting today. I was driving home after picking my car from the dealer and what do I see but a FREAKING Google building in my home city. I knew Google had recently opened an office here (in fact, one of my friends works at that location) but I thought it was a small satellite office. I didn’t know they emblazoned their damn logo on the building for the world to see. Yes, please rub it in my face even more. Argh!!!
Google, yes, you are great…but I’m going to be even greater one day. You just watch. Happy Asian Guy isn’t so happy right now but in the end, I will prevail!! Okay maybe not, but I’ll try anyway.
