Nutrisystem - Day 1 of a Diet Program
Tuesday, April 24th, 2007
Today was my first official day on Nutrisystem. I decided to include a few pictures for you so that you get an idea of what the meals look like outside of the box. I was pleasantly surprised. All this time I thought I was going to eat gross food.
A few things to note:
- Portion sizes are smaller than I thought (but how else are you going to lose weight, right?)
- The Nutrisystem entrees are much more delicious than I expected
- You are allowed to eat more than just the entrees. Dinner, for example, allows you one fruit, unlimited veggie servings, and a slice of bread (or your choice of low glycemic index foods - they give you a list)
I’m doing well for my first day on Nutrisystem. Most of the day I think to myself, “Boy this is easier than I thought”. While other times I think, “Oh man, I don’t know how long I’m going to last”. I think my favorite part of the Nutrisystem diet so far is that you get add specific foods to your meals. Most additions entail fruits and vegetables but that’s better than nothing. I think weight loss programs like Jenny Craig or Zone Diet allow you to eat ONLY what they give you. That can probably get stale quickly.
The Nutrisystem Nourish plan also provides you with a daily diary. So I’m keeping track of my daily weight, what I eat and when, and how many minutes (or hours) I’m exercising. Oh…you’ll be glad to know that I went to the gym today. 45 minutes of cardio + 45 minutes of strength training. I was planning on starting my P90x program today but the manual strongly recommended against doing this high octane fitness program while being on a calorie deficit type of diet. So P90x will have to wait…
At any rate, I’m hoping I can keep up this level of intensity throughout the diet program. We’ll see…
